Science Tutoring
Education is the key to creating opportunities; unfortunately those who are in the most need of opportunities are generally those who have the least access to education. This can be due to a variety of reasons; language difficulties, cultural restrictions and financial problems are just a few. Scientifiques Sans Frontières Australia is helping to overcome these obstacles by providing tutoring in science related subjects to secondary students that come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The objective of the program is to support and enhance the science learnt in secondary schooling, with focus on providing a source of experience and knowledge that they can access as they progress in their studies. Hopefully, this will encourage them to remain in the science field upon completion of their studies. These are run as small workshops once a week that focus on understanding of the science concepts and self-learning.
Secondary school teachers, members of SSF Australia, currently coordinate this program. If you would like to know more about the program, such as becoming a tutor, please contact SSF at ssfaus@ssfaustralia.org
